Hello, I've had a good look and it seems you can't buy a long 4 gang socket and box to sink into a wall?.

We have a 2 to 4 gang surface mount job but it's crap.

Presumably only option is two 2 gang sockets next to each other?.

Sometimes an extension lead to a common point looks better than umpteen cables going to the wall.

Think you can get a 3 outlet flush socket but I believe they fuse it at 13amp for the total 3 outlets

When you say you have a 2 to 4 way adapter but its crap - what exactly is crap about it?

If you use say:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/mk-3-gan...5XKS-KC6FphbkeF8hyRoCWZoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
and then
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Switched-F...ocphy=9046599&hvtargid=pla-423983963029&psc=1

you get what you want.

Is it the quality of the cheapo one you bought?
I have a 3 way one and it seems to be of excellent quality.
but the 4 way one is too big to fit on the 3way pattress

They are the shallow wire in 4 gang sockets but they aren't as good as a normal sockets.

They weren't cheap either.

I'm redecorating at some point and thought a ideal time to change them out.

If that's what I think it is, it fits on a single gang or double gang back box and the whole unit is fused with a BS1363 fuse. Don't know about brands but the units i've handled have been ok

My mistake, I thought it said it was a 4 way back box.

We use 2 sockets with plugs in permanently which is fine but unplugging the other two it just feels a bit pants, might be just too picky I suppose.

IF the OP is decorating, just keep it simple and put 2 double sockets in.

I use conduit couplers and bushes when I want two or more accessories together - it ensures they're all square in relation to each other. Nothing worse aesthetically than two sockets/switches etc. right next to each other at different levels. It also gives sufficient spacing for some flat plate accessories.
