I'm seeing more and more use of cavity trays all the way round a build at dpc level rather than two level DPC's (inner/outer leaf) with angled lean mix concrete.

Just wondering why things have changed more towards a massive tray all the way round.....

The only practical reasons would a difference in internal floor level, or a radon barrier

The brand new home we are working on at present (Redrow Homes) has trays all round at DPC (B&B floors). I can't see any reason why the addition and it's deffo not a radon risk area. Builders must be steering away from sub DPC cavity filling perhaps in favour of DPC level trays..?

With wheelchair access being required, ground levels need to be higher, (which requires a tray) is another reason.

They lay hessian sacking in the bottom of the cavity, build the walls then smash out every third block and drag out the snot covered sacking.

Is there no insulation in the wall at that point then? That sounds a right b4ll ache

Bloody radicals
Indeed.

I showed my young oppo the blocks that had been replaced, when we recently did an outer skin knock-down.
A lot of effort but I do agree with it. I have seen snots stacked up to the third course above DPC, filling the (50mm) cavity.
