Need help finding an item/material

Evening all,

I'm having trouble finding something I thought would be pretty straightforward.

I'm looking for either an L shape, or right angle strip of metal to go along a kitchen worktop, where you might normally have silicone sealant. Ideally it would be available in lengths up to 2.5 metres.

Sorry, I literally can't find anything of use and my knowledge of retailers outside of the main few DIY ones is limited.

They sell metal strips long enough and curved over at each end, for a worktop end, where can cut the curve off if you don't need it - but I've never seen anything 2.5m long. You might be able to source plain, thin alloy angle from a metal specialist. If its to finish off the rear edge of a worktop, where it meets a wall, you can buy plastic quadrant strip, 13.5mm per side, which can be siliconed to fit - look up Eurocell.com in there online catalogue. They specialise in double glazing plastics.

As above, a steel stockholders/fabricators will have or be able to get all sorts of alloy lengths

Aluminium angle is available in up to 6 metres, just on eBay. Lots of listings for 3 metre lengths, as that's a fairly 'normal' limit a lot of couriers will deal with...

I'd prefer to find a local one and collect it myself though personally, no chance of damage then.

I want to put sealant around the back of the kitchen worktop, between worktop and wall. However, some of the gaps are fairly big and the bead of silicone would be huge and unsightly. It varies along its lengths also.

I've just had this as what I thought would be a simple solution. Unless there is another way? Genuinely interested!

Are you implying the wall is not a straight edge? Or just not parallel to the worktop? If the wall is not straight then an angle won't work. Got a pic?

A timber, melamine or suchlike splashback/upstand will be thick enough and may just look like it's supposed to be there!

Solutions include scribing the worktop to the wall (difficult, often requires a wider top), adding an upstand (still leaves you with the problem of gaps, just further up), adding an upstand but sinking it partly into the wall to hide the gaps (messy), adding a full height splash back from the worktop to the underside of the upper cabinets (can move the gap to above eye line, but is a lot of work), etc. It all requires a bit of work.

To anyone else reading this, it is always easier to sort a wall out before installing a kitchen than afterwards

So I had a proper look at the wall. If I'm honest, I think I could silicone it, they're not nearly as big as what I thought, but some of the gaps are uneven, that's all.

As for the wall, the kitchen is about 3 years old and all the walls were plastered beforehand (trade), and fitted by someone else also. Was a painful experience and the finish wasn't great to be completely honest. First job on our first house.
