Hello

When my boiler kicks in, the lit burners on the hob all go down slightly until the boiler stops, and then return to normal. Just like the burner control knob is turned down slightly.

Is this anything to be concerned at?

For a bit of info, the boiler is next to the incoming gas main, and the hob is on the other side of the property on an approx 15m 15mm copper pipe run, T'd off from the boiler supply.

Thanks
DM.

Yes ... you need to get a recommended GSR in to do a supply test ASAP. Chances are the pipe supplying both the hob and boiler isn't large enough and the boiler is drawing more than the pipe can deliver (unless there's a district pressure or meter/governor issue).

Be prepared for the recommendation that a new gas pipe might need to be run.

Why would you not get it replaced?
It's obviously far more of a hazard on hobs not fitted with thermocouples where an unburnt gas incident could occur especially when the district pressure drops.
