ID cards for Voting

Why?

What consequences of not having it do you fear?

what consequences of having it do you fear?

the point in voter id is to reduce the possibility of fraud happening. Whether it has been an issue or not is a mute point, what isnt mute is that they have done studies and decided that without vote id there is a possibility that voter fraud could happen.

it's about negating the risk.

now tell me one thing how having voter id stops oneself from voting?

you still havnt made a case as to why not have voter ID.
Dont be daft - it doesnt work like that.

If we had it, and I was proposing getting rid of it, then of course it would be down to me to make the case for that. As it is always down to anybody who wants to change the status quo to make the case for the change.

But we dont have it, so of course it is absolutely down to anybody who wants to introduce it to make the case for it.

Behave.

There's certainly been a significant amount of electoral fraud in Slough, predominantly involving people from the Pakistani community, although not exclusively, the worst case being when Lydia Simmonds lost her seat because of fraud, at least on that occasion six people were jailed and a by election was called.
My wife at that time being a council employee usually worked at the polling station and helped with the count and I doubt she had a year where the police weren't called, that was usually for the cases of coercion where husbands decided who their wife or wives would vote for.

Anyone who suggests electoral fraud is insignificant is a fool and anyone who objects to providing proof of identity in order to vote is an even bigger fool.

Prove it is happening, not say that we must make it harder and/or more expensive to vote because of a problem which only exists in your imagination.

Whether it has been an issue or not is a mute point,
There is certainly debate about it.

But no doubt. At least not amongst people who prefer facts to inventions when it comes to justifications for new laws.

Who are "they"?

What probability did they assign to the "possibility" that voter fraud "could" happen?

How robust were their methods? What modelling did they do? What scrutiny was there of their studies and methodologies?

it's about negating the risk.
Please quantify the risk, and prove that it needs to be negated.

Anything which places any obstacles in the way of voting will tend to act as voter suppression. There are people who do not have any of the forms of photo ID being suggested as youll-be-able-to-use-a-<whatever>-no-need-for-a-new-form-of-ID.

That could have been prevented by the precautionary step of jailing Tory candidates lest they engage in fraud.

Ive seen the light. Its obvious that if their wives had photo ID then they couldnt be coerced. Why didnt I realise that.

You say "fool".

I say "someone who believes in the concept of evidence".

I know who is right.

HINT: It isnt you.
