How dangerous is daisy chaining?

Are you seriously trying to lead us into the totally unrealistic misapprehension that one would in any way be able to plug 334 4 way extention leads into a socket and expect it to work with reliability and safety?

not into a socket. Into each other.

though your room might not have enough space,

the fuse in the first plug that goes into the socket will be no more than a nominal 13A

the effects would be not different to have a single multiway adaptor, and plugging several things into it. Say, a kettle, a toaster, a washing machine, a tumble drier, a phone charger, and a fan heater. What will happen if you turn them all on together?

Why do you think that spreading them over more than one multiway will be different?

And what if you just plug a lot of phone chargers into it?

If you were to do the calcualtions it comes out that one plug is into the wall socket and the rest are daisychained.

Thanks to the brilliant design of the UK plug and socket,
I may be tempted to do the job with some proper connectors like BS546 or Shuko.

What makes you think the OP wants a new, non-standard circuit in her house for her multiway adaptors?

You make this statememt:

To which I respond that in my experience installing 334 extention leads in order to power your 1000 devices will be unreliable as the design of the 13A P&S is quite frankly only a little better than the American bits of bent tin can IN MY OPINION. Please note I have not disputed the 1000 chargers claim, that is probably quite feasible.

I then state it may work with better connectors, as further criticism of 13A formats.

Now being a highly experienced person in a selection of different industries I make such an offer with adequate working experience of 13A and the other connectors behind my words. So I get a silly comment about adding a second fuse (I asked why) and an even sillier question about where I'd plug it in... In my book that's the sort of comment I'd expect winston1 to proffer.

Where on earth do you think I'd plug a recognised plug type into? And why do you think it needs 2 fuses when you state a 13A plug requires only one?



Silly comments are one thing, as indeed some of mine are! but a silly comment without some sort of background is a different matter...
 
Inrush current will destroy the 13A fuse long before 1000 chargers are connected.
Totaly correct, trying to start them in one go most certainly would blow the fuse, and probably the suppliers fuse given the chance.

Plug them in one by one and by the time you plug the 1000th one in, your phone on the first charger, would be charged - sorted.
 
assumption that USB chargers would mostly be intended for charging phones..

Were we not talking about plug in charger and not sockets with USB power supplies built into the sockets.

( Pop a transistor and you have to replace an entire socket, but hey, a USB socket on the wall. it is so convenient.... until an electrician has to be called )
