UK Australia Trade Deal

China,USA,EU,India,Japan,Germany,Russia,Indonesia,Brazil,France

All the above have a bigger population than we do. Most have far far bigger populations than we have. Are you suggesting we flood this island with people from other country's just so we can compete with China India and the USA?

I'd rather compete with Norway & Denmark for quality of life....

Not at all.

As you say, we are a small country.

So we have a small economy.

And small influence in the world, particularly with BJ trashing our reputation.

Said on the radio it was a good deal
Who said that? And do you believe everything you see it hear?
french banging on about sausages and how all negotiations need to be conducted in french
Don't be ridiculous. Everyone taking part can hear what is said translated into their own language.

As an EU member we were not flooded with people from other countries.

So why did you vote to exclude people from those countries from freely moving to the UK to enhance our 'quality of life'?

And why did you vote that UK citizens could not freely move to those countries to sample that 'quality of life'

I honestly cannot see a single benefit to come from Brexit.

Please, can anybody tell me how Brexit has reduced prices, made stuff easier to get hold of, improved choice and reduced red tape?

Good luck with that one...

Because you won't get any brexiteer to state any benefits whatsoever...

Well not for the next 50 years apparently

By then voices from the grave may be heard mumbling 'we told you coffins would be 0.1% cheaper in the future'!

The UK were once a power force in industry,

with the EU allowing almost 3rd world countries in they needed to level up these countries, so they offer stupendous grants for companies to move there and employ locals to boost economies etc etc, unfortunately due to the UK being an island, businesses decided that it was often easier to shut the UK factories and move their operations to where the grants were with cheaper labour, (this happened to my dad)

this wasn't the only reason, the UK's spiralling living costs meaning companies are required to pay high wages is the biggest factor..

The EU also provided a significant amount of red tape and made it very difficult for governments to assist industry to keep jobs, the rules obviously are the same for all countries, but it appears some were allowed to bend the rules while the UK was always reprimanded. Thomas cook is a case in point, the Germans managed to bail the German side of the business out, yet the uk were not allowed, whether this is down to government incompetence (i'd say most likely yes) or not is not wholly known.

i believe there were a lot of people who thought that by getting rid of the EU we can make our own way and our own rules and can help industry when its required, however at the time, i don't think people betted that we would end up with a cesspit of the most incompetent MP's of all time, all the top 3 parties are pretty darn useless at the moment. Maybe this is because we got so used to the EU doing everything for us the quality of MP's and politics has gone down hill substantially because they didn't need to be any good.

Now we finally have Brexit (and if I'm honest along with a not particularly great deal) the reality is, it's pretty much the same as it was, albeit with additional restrictions on movement from the EU and harder to import/export products. The government is just bumbling from one crisis to another, no one appears to really be governing and steering the ship so to speak, the only ones that seem to be doing any good is rishi and liz, Hancocks been ok since the vaccine roll out but the jury is out on that one. How much of this is covid or just complete incompetence or both is currently unknown.

Personally i see brexit as pretty much a non event we dont appear to be better off either way, maybe we will find out long term

The whole world appears to be one big poo heap atm, apart from new zealand, they seem happy, i'd like to live their.

Brexit has already ruined lives of Fishermen, Farmers and Muscicians. It will slowly build up steam - Covid has depressed travel and commerce but as we move out from under its shadow Brexit realities will become more real.

Irrespective of whether you think it's a good deal or bad - not honouring a deal we negotiated just shows us as untrustworthy. What do you do in a situation where you think someone will renege on a deal - you ask for more upfront.
