It is not possible to determine long-term effects of the vaccine in the short-term. No argument. End of

You seem intent on simplifying debates to the point where they are meaningless.

You’ve chosen to be vaccinated, so how did you decide the risk of Covid was worse than vaccine side effects.

Apparently 1 in 3 of pinged people develop symptoms.

If a vaccinated can catch it then they can spread it. The odds of both is much lower than an unprotected person but not zero.

It might be that the risk is low enough that it's not worth isolation for vaccinated people. But to work that out would require good statistics and modeling, or Boris to just say he's bored and that's what will happen.

I hadn’t realised it’s as high as 1 in 3.

I’m quite risk adverse in regards to Covid, but we do have to start living with Covid and getting back to some normality and allowing more freedom for the double vaccinated seems a potential way forward.

the lockdown sceptics will be quick to point out parts of USA that dropped all lockdown measures and aren’t seeing big rises - Texas for example. However I’m not sure USA has much delta variant.

A question for an the anti-vaxxers:

In the UK, 129,000+ people have died with a connection to Covid. Many more are suffering long Covid symptoms. In the UK, 69,600,000 have had a vaccine jab.

How many have died because of the vaccination?

At the end of the day though it's her choice.
The problem though is that "her choice" is actually "her choice" to expose her children to the risks of serious, life changing, permanent disabilities and death. Or at the very least pain and discomfort. If they are girls she is exposing them to the risks of giving birth to a disabled child. If they are boys, to the risk of reduced fertility or even sterility. And she is exposing others in society who were not vaccinated for any reason to the risks of disease spread by her children.

And for what? Why?

Because she believes a pack of complete nonsense. Because she believes things which are utterly false. Because she refuses, absolutely refuses, to believe the truth.

Sorry - no - there comes a point where a "choice" on that basis has public health consequences which cannot be tolerated and which arguably qualify as child abuse.

That might be because as yet there is no answer.

Because I am very old and the balance was in favour of having the vaccine.

For a younger person, it could be different.

There really is nothing to argue about. Vaccines and the like cannot be compulsory.

Apparently 1 in 3 of pinged people develop symptoms.

Really?

Where did you see that?

"Apparently" is not a good sign.

Half a million people pinged per week means the infection must be spreading like wildfire

Unless symptoms include "had a runny nose" "had a headache" "felt tired" etc which could be anything.

(My weekly survey does, but also asks if I have tested positive)

That might be because as yet there is no answer.

this is a false argument.

you havent defined "long term" so you are merely saying: "we have no infinite proof there are no side effects"....well thats true of many things

however reality is that judgements are built on probability.

And we certainly can get a measure of probability by looking at historical data for vaccine side effects, safety of mRNA technology, modelling from short term outcomes etc.

And it is spreading like wildfire. ONS estimates that roughly 750,000 people had Covid during the week 10th to 17th.
