No heating on my ideal combi boiler

Have you tried a manual override? I think it may be the button on the receiver, push it in and see if that does anything.

I tried pressing the small black button on the receiver, the light tunred off for about a minutes, then cam bakc to the same situation. I tried using the "reset" feature on the boiler itself, but no difference

You said combi boiler - have you checked the pressure in the system?

The pressure is about 3 bars, with a maximum of 4

That won’t affect the thermostat not pairing up though

As I said, I genuinely beleive the receiver and the thermostat are now in sync, because the light do react 5/10 seconds after I touch the thermostat ( constant red light when I set the temperature high, or frequent red flash when i set it to low, so it seems like the receiver is pick up on that. I made a video to show what I mean)

No matter what i do the boiler itsef stays on "0" (unless i turn on a tap for ot water, then it dispaly a hot water demand for a bit)
Is it possible that some of the valves are not set up right?

Once again, thank you so much to everyone helping and taking the time to reply, this is highly apprecaited.
I had to go buy a hot water bottle today as the nights are getting very cold without heating.

That’s far too high, confirmed with your photos, so likely the heating or running hot water for long periods will knock the boiler off. Some have a low and high pressure cut off.

Are you sure ?
Because when i set the temperature to 30°, the light remain red, and when i set the temperature to 20° or lower, the light is off, with 2 blinks every few s econds, This seems to match the decription of the guide:

  • When the room thermostat is on and the room temperature is less than the set point then the light on the front of the receiver on the boiler will be continuously on.
  • When the room thermostat is off the room temperature is less than the set point then the light on the front of the receiver will turn off, but will flash interminttently (the flashing indicates that there is successful communication between the thermostat and the boiler).

Nothing in the manual mention red or green light, and I've only ever seen it red
Yes you are correct I was thinking of a different make, if the light on the boiler is now solid red when heat demanded, then it is now paired

  • Thanks

Just seen your video, the thermostat is now paired, a very common fault on your boiler , is that the spindle behind the control knob on the CH/HW control knob snaps, it feels like you are turning it but you arent turning the spindle, so the boiler might be set to HW only, and turning the control knob doesnt actually do anything

when you turn the mode button on the boiler clockwise to reset does the display change from O to ... then back to O when you release it ?

Hi, might help or not, the pic of your remote shows midnight, set to the correct time. The thumb wheel for the room temp need turning anti-clockwise to increase the room temp, rather counter intuitive. All the tappets around the clock are set to 'on', change to some on and some off. Trying to remember any more tips, as my daughter had the same set-up with problems. Hope this helps.

I tried to leave all tap running hot water for a couple minutes but the rpessure did not really go down at all. I'm not sure a pressure too high would cause the heating to not working at all though, no?

Do you mean the button on the very right ? So you beleive that the button hitself would be broken ?

When I use the reset feature, the wole display turn off for a few seconds, then the boiler starts to "work" ( make noise and vibration) for a few minutes, then go back to 0 after a few minutes yes.
So at least the reset feature definitely does something. Not sure how to tets if the other features are working normally.
Edit: made another video to show you

I did set up the thermostat properly after adding batteries etc. I will try setting it as "off" a certain times but, given that the receiver seems to pick up on the water demand from the theromstas, i believe the issue is more with the boiler itself or at least between the boiler and the receiver.

is it possible that some of the valves are not set up properly ? I have tried switching the position for them one by one, to see if something would happen, but it did not seem to do anything. Only one of the pipie is hot. Is there somwhere a guide on how the valves are supposed to be set up ?

Thank you everyone who is trying to help, this is super helpful.

If you mean the hot tap, the tap has no direct bearing on the pressure in the heating circuit.

I understand some boilers include an inhibitor for both the usual low pressure at around 0.5 Bar and one for over pressure at around 3.0 bar. Your PRV should also operate at around 3.0 bar. Try releasing some pressure by bleeding a radiator.

One more point - It looks as if the time clock is set for always on, via the mechanical 'fingers'. None of the fingers seem to be off. I have known such clocks be stuck in the off position despite the fingers all being on. You might try setting some to off periods, rotating the dial whilst listening, to see if you get a positive click to back on.

Then the spindle has not broken (and it didnt go blank it went - as I said :) ) on the mode switch, that is good news for you, to drop the boiler system pressure go to any radiator armed with a bowl or pot of some kind, open the bleed point to catch the water that comes out until the pressure guage drops to about 1.5 Bar, no need to worry about that at this stage , that is not what is stopping the boiler from coming on, when you run a hot tap what does the display on the boiler change to ? And you have cost me a virtual pint to @sbgasman

Yeah I did set it up as "always on" to make sure this was not the issue, i've tried changing it again, but since the receiver is picking up on the demand, I dont believe the issue is with the thermostat itself

Yeah, it disaply "d" I beleive, or whatver letter correspond to "hot water demand"

Honeslty, everything seems to be working just fine, except that the boiler is not picking up, or acting up on the heating demand for some reason :(

As for the virtual pint, if someone manage to find a solution, I might save over 200£ so i'll be hapy to offer a virtual pint or two :D

Have you tried the suggestion I made above in post 26 to try reducing the system pressure.
