Gob-smacked!

Ohhh, I need to help my parents with a selecting a new boiler. I looked at that Boxt but it seemed too good to be true.

What about Atag? Intergas installers are spread thin.

Yes, Atag not bad. 10 year warranty and lifetime warranty on the stainless heat exchanger. Not had much to do with them though.

OOI, which boiler would you recommend?
Fitted a boiler for my daughter recently, as I won't be on call constantly I fitted a ........................... Worcester

OK, one exmple. The flow turbine adaptor's are very leak prone and leak down onto the diverter valve motor which damages it. So do WB improve the adaptor's design? No, they just fit a rubber boot over the motor to protect it.
And a piece of cake to fix, and spares readily available and cheap.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Bloody German s
I've had a Vaillant in for about a year or more now and its been a boon. Every quarterly gas bill has been lower than the previous years' bills. I'm not sure whether it's the VSmart tec or the boiler itself, but I'm not grumbling. Very quiet too.

I have a Viessmann. Simple quality boiler. I dont Vaillant but they are on par with the Worcester if not better.

I fit Ideal now and they do seem good boilers not many call backs unto 12 year warranty on the Vogues.

Some engineers love them because they get lots of work from WBs. Having to pull the boiler off the wall to fit a new pressure relief valve or expansion vessel stretches what should be a simple job and boosts earnings. Then there the labour for changing the left and right hydroblocks when the plastic pinholes and sprays water onto the electrics. Oh yes, WB is the gift that keeps on giving if you can be arzed with them

They've had no work at all off ours bar it's yearly servicing..

And as DIY person am I allowed to fix it, if not then any readily available and cheap spares means nothing because no doubt the Gas Safe plumber will want plenty of dosh.

Dimplex a few years back gave 5 year warranty in their boilers. The big boys were only giving 1 - 3 years. So they had to up their game and give bigger warranties. Now there are warranties for 12 years floating about. And Dimplex as a boiler company have gone tits up.

Because of the big warranties they want their boilers fitted correctly with Powerflush and a full strip down service on the mark every year.

They turn a blind eye to these big companies fitting hundreds if not thousands of boilers a year with shocking quality.

As time goes by they will wiggle out of these warranties leaving the boiler owner as the piggy in the middle.
