Hi all. I recently had a pergola installed and the installer had to raise it to 2.6m due to my conservatory doors opening outwards.

Is there anyway i can change them over to open inwards so i can lower my pergola to the required 2.5.m.?

Does your pergola come under that rule? Is anybody going to complain?

I don't see why you can't have them open inwards, but it will cost a fair amount. I'd wait to be told by the council that it is too tall!

A friend had lovely bifolds that opened inwards - said they were a nightmare as it means if has been raining, when you open the doors your floor gets wet.

If you get reported and the council come round and see that its 10cm to high do they let you alter it or do they fine you straight away?

I would think they would look and ignore it.

Is there space for a little decking below it? I know it won't be officially accepted, but you could just say "oh sorry, I measured from the decking, do I really need to change it for 10cm"?

But I'd wait either way. Assuming you don't have lights all around it that shine into your neighbours property, of course!

is this on a sloping site
as in are you measuring from the highest ground ajacent to [it sits on] ??

At the moment its 10cm above the rule so definitely needs lowering. Also my neighbour has already made me aware how high it is.
How did he know?

has he been around and measured it?

I would just wait and see if your orrible neighbour reports it. All that will happen is eventually a planning officer will come around and throw a tape over it…..and they may eventually issue an enforcement notice.

if it’s a plastic conservatory you will probably need new doors and frame

if timber maybe an altered frame.
