That’s the awful thing: there’s no solution in sight, if the UK set up safe routes that would possibly cause a huge rise and if not they will keep on coming by boat.

Personally I think the UK should sort out actual illegal immigrants which are visa overstayers.

You see at the end of the day the only point or argument as I see it is how
Many you let in

there has to be a limit

Transam, there's no limit. Limits are racist. All the world can come here if it wants, all 7 billion of em. Britain has a proud history of welcoming third world rapists and murderers, and long may it continue!

Afaik The majority are single men

not families / woman and children

Mark Steyn says 87% of those landing are single men, and that if it continues at that rate, Britain will in the future have a male/female imbalance like China's. The men won't be Chinamen though; take note all you men with wives, daughters, sisters, mothers, nieces and aunts.

Kent social services / council is at breaking point dealing with this migration from
France

And on that point, I notice that no women are posting here on this subject. Surely in a democracy we need to hear what British women think about their future prospects in a society where the majority of the population are muslim men?

That has to be one of the best totally made up wacky statements we've had so far. Well done.

Maybe, in this great democracy, people should respect facts and statistics more than bigotry and tabloid headlines, then everybody might enjoy a more enriched life.

what, at a time when we have a huge labour shortage with businesses failing because they can't find staff?
Tricky one.

But, ignoring this question - this thread is about asylum seekers working. We talked about this very recently. Asylum seekers make up a tiny percentage of all immigrants overall, and an even smaller proportion of immigration to the UK.

"In 2020, around 5,400 people were issued with a refugee family reunion visa, and around 900 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children were granted asylum or other leave."
https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/migration-to-the-uk-asylum/

That's 6,300 in one year. Not exactly going to turn the country Muslim, even if they are all Muslim.

Plus of course, the UK takes the fewest in Europe.

"Where do asylum applicants go to?
The highest number of first-time asylum applicants in the second quarter of 2021 was registered in Germany (with 29 545 first-time applicants, or 28 % of all first-time applicants in the EU Member States), followed by France (22 015, or 21 %), Spain (12 335, or 12 %) and Italy (8 010, or 8 %). These four Member States together account for more than two-thirds (69 %) of all first-time applicants in the EU (Table 2)."
https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/stati...ly_report#Where_do_asylum_applicants_go_to.3F

"European context
In 2020, there were around 6 asylum applications for every 10,000 people living in the UK. Across the EU27 there were 11 asylum applications for every 10,000 people. When compared with EU countries, the UK ranked 14th out of the individual countries in terms of the number of asylum applications per capita."

"The number one reason we hear for refugees continuing their journey to the UK is that they have family ties here. In fact, this covers at least 50% of cases(1). Family ties run deep, especially when you have lost everything else."

 So what’s your limit on migration than

????

If we need to put a figure on it ... based on this article about UK job shortages, which are slowly crippling our economy ... we need about 250,000 right now. Maybe more.

https://news.sky.com/story/the-ten-...eded-most-as-uk-battles-vacancy-glut-12400384

Although, this story suggests it might be much. much worse ....

UK job vacancies surge to record high 2.7 million as labour shortage worsens

So, how do we rebuild a post-Brexit economy, with no labour?
