Hi, we have a u shaped shower enclosure currently which is 3 walls tilled and one wall is a bifold door, I want to replace only this element of the bathroom as the tiling in the rest of the room is fine, the tile grout get dirty easy and I just want an easier life and brighten up the room.

Been looking at these shower wall panels, are they easy to install (I’m relatively good at DIY), can they go on top of tiles? Any tips on installing them please?

Only issue I can prempt is we have coving in the bathroom and the top of the panels will be further out than the lip of the coving (hope this makes sense), any good ideas on this please?

TIA

I go for MulitPanel every time.....expensive at around £180 per 8x4 sheet but excellent quality - as are all of the anodised corner strips etc.
Use it and never tile again - I use it in my kitchens for splash backs too.
They do their own instant grab adhesive which is also worth it.
Snap together joins on the vertical faces are virtually invisible.

Just a thought please, I know these can be fixed direct to the tiles but to maintain the shower size could I remove the tiles and the plasterboard and fix the panels direct to the wooden batterns?

Ta

Yes, you can....always a good move to ensure good support to the panels of course!
Noggins can be added as necessary so panel movement is negligible.

I had some a few years back, was a sort of corrugated plastic design. I had issues keeping them tight to the wall whilst the adhesive dried, and then due to not using tonnes of silicone, they leaked like crazy.

A month later, ripped them out and tiled.

Experiences may vary, and I'd love to hear of them being great as they would save a fortune!

Takes minutes to clean. Dont led the crud build up in the first place.
The fad of using a rugged faced tile means that cleaning is not just a wioe with a squeegee. Hard water stains takes
a while to manifest and are not seen until dry.
Smooth joint free panels are easy to squeegee clean.

We went for panels and don't regret it but we went for the non wood based and non corrugated ones. The problem is really the price, and they stink when you cut them. I think they were about 200 plus vat each one. That was 3 years ago and we are still happy. They came with some kind of PU filler and adhesive which seems to have held up well.
I agree tiles would look better at first, these are a more hotel style, but who likes cleaning?

Did you use the sealing strips at the bottom or just silicone in?

I used the chrome sealing strips on mine for the joint and ends - mine was just a corner L shape. Much much neater but depends on the look you want, not just finish but colour etc.
