Are we breeding scum?

Any tipping of rubbish is wrong. Taking extremes, yes someone who fly tips on a regular basis can in the context of this thread be referred to as scum. A teenager that maybe leaves their McD's bag beside their car a few times before driving off, scum? Nah.

I'm seeing more glass and rubbish on pavements around where I live. OK, maybe it's because I am more aware now I have a dog. But still, seems a lot. People get drive throughs and takeaways and just chuck their rubbish out the car.

Family home is outside of a village - it's about the burger and fries eating distance from a McD's; most days I have to clear the gateway and ditch of the rubbish from McD's. Even had one idiot who saw me cleaning up the rubbish try to time to throw his rubbish, including a half full pack of fries into hitting me.
If that was me, I'd bag it up and take it back the McD's and leave it in their restaurant, making sure there was a great big rip in the bottom of the bag.
We tend to get an increase of rubbish in the road on a Monday, seems to coincide with the bin mens visit.

I've seen a few signs at Cornish beaches where one of the requests on the list is that visitors should not 'bury used nappies in the sand'.

I don't know what shocked me more, the fact that people would need to be asked not to do it, or the fact some people had done it.

Thing that gets me is that so many people are 'Oooh, look after the environment' and 'global warming' while thinking little about chucking their plastic & other rubbish on the floor.

They are thoughtless, unthinking scum - what else can they be described as? Just too bone idle to put their rubbish where is belongs, in a bin.

I think that happens everywhere since they began using wheelie bins, before their life was made so easy, they used to carry a brush and a shovel to clean up their spillings, using them - not now, too much effort.

A lot of things, however I'm sure most of them aren't scum.

I don't have kids but have nieces and nephews. If my sister told me one of them was in the habit of not disposing of rubbish properly when out with mates, do they need a good talking to and some education on why they're wrong in their actions? Yes. Would I consider them scum? No.

Why? Are you asserting it's their fault customers (that have left their premises) are not disposing of their McD's litter properly?

I'm assuming you'd do that if you saw an Asda plastic bag lying in the street? You'd take it to your nearest Asda and leave it at their customer services desk?

Heck, let's go the whole hog. If you see a Ford vehicle left abandoned, why not arrange for it to be towed to your nearest Ford dealership? After all, it's their fault, right?

Why do they even need educating, isn't it obvious that if they throw their rubbish on the ground, that someone else will need to pick it up?
