Although born in India, he went to Rugby School and Cambridge university. He moved to Pakistan briefly, but then moved to the UK. He did loads of commercial writing (“Naughty but Nice slogan) before having a book published.
after the Satanic Verses issue he moved to the USA.
you don’t seem to understand freedom of speech? Nothing he wrote was illegal in any way in the UK. He spent more time in the UK than in India, Pakistan or the USA.
