Salmon Rushdie

Insult a black man, it's racism.
Insult a Jew, it's Anti Semitism
Insult a gay guy, its homophobia
Insult a Muslim, its freedom of speech

...and that's really all there is to this debate.

The hypocrisy is truly astounding.
I notice you didn't answer my question as to how your proposed model of selective free speech would work. What can we freely discuss under this model and what can't we?

There was some lady talking on the radio from India she is a journalist / author

Many Indian authors / journalists have been attacked for what they have written plenty have to whatch there backs

This week dozens of Palestinians were murdered by Israel including 17 children using American supplied weapons. That's where my focus is, on the persecution of a defenceless people against the brutal zionist forces occupying their lands.

I personally don't give a ****e about some author that gets attacked because he provokes some people. I care about the defenceless children living in horrid open air prisons in their own homeland being butchered by Israel day after day, funded propped up and armed by the west.

I don't know, is free speech absolute? If its fine to mock Muhammed who is loved and idolised by hundreds of millions, for no other reasons then to cause offence then why shouldn't Muslims be allowed to mock the holocaust? Or to mock your mother who you love dearly? Where do you draw the line?

Who dictates what is and what isn't allowed?

Comedian Jerry Sadowizh was cancelled this week because his jokes were deemed unacceptable. To who? What happened to his right to express himself and to cause offence to women and blacks? I guess freedom of speech is not absolute in his case. However I'm sure had he made those same jokes about Muslims, it would have been deemed fine. Again it highlights the utter hypocrisy of those that cry freedom of speech.

I'm not sure what camp you fall into. Do you realise how important it is that we can mock various things in this country? Take something as seemingly innocuous as Paul Merton on HIGNFY poking fun at something like God, the Pope, the Queen, the Catholic Church etc. Do you want to live in a society where we're not free to mock these things if we so desire?

It's ironic that people from other countries with different cultures and beliefs want to live here, however when it comes to our rights around free speech ... ah wait a minute.

It's nothing sort of ridiculous that, in my above scenario, Paul Merton dare not mock Islam or Muhammed, even if he tried the BBC lawyers wouldn't allow it.

In the context of religion, NO religion should be off limits to our rights around freedom of speech.

A terrorist government funded by Iran routinely firing up to 400 rockets a day into Israel is hardly what can reasonably be described as a defenceless nation.

A nation that has never had an army, a navy, or an air force is pretty well defenceless when attacked by a powerful neighbour that has all three.

The Palestinians are fighting a brutal occupying israeli terrorist army armed to their teeth by the US. The israelis have no right to be there. They are on someone else's land. They only exist because America props up the Israelis by giving them $10 million dollars a DAY.

The Palestinians have every right to resist the israelis. 400 Palestinian villages that existed in 1947 have since been wiped off the map by Israel. Tens of thousands of Palestinians murdered by Israel, and you think the Palestinians should just roll over and be wiped out to make way for imported immigrants from the US, UK, Ukraine, Russia?

Israel should become part of the USA, move out of the middle east and settle lock, stock and barrel to somewhere on the American mainland. In return muslims in all Western nations should be repatriated to their original countries or to the part of Palestine vacated by Israel.

Is Hamas still on the EUs terrorist organisation list ??

Or were they taken off ?

( due to a court case some while back ?)
