We have this wall unit in out bathroom that has a series of small LED’s that light up either side when you wave your hand under the sensor. It’s been playing up recently - occasionally, one day it will not switch on but more often than not, it won’t switch off. I have to turn off the breaker for the upstairs lights to turn lights off.

I can only think that it’s the sensor/controller that’s at fault so looking to replace it.

Do I have to replace it with the exact same make or can a generic one at less than half price do the job?

I have this:

And was wondering if I can replace it with this:

The generic item will do.
Make sure the actual sensor is the same size so it will fit into the existing hole.
