Brexit Is a Complete failure

British Volt didn't fail because of Brexit. It failed for the most basic reason. Somebody had an idea to build a factory that costs millions without understand who would buy the batteries it produced.
So I guess this investment is also wrong?

"The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a $350 million loan agreement to support the financing of Europe's first home-grown gigafactory for lithium-ion battery cells, Northvolt Ett, in Sweden"

And no doubt the EU and it's single internal market will also benefit from...

"Sweden Finds Largest-Ever Rare Earth Metal Deposit In Europe"

"This could make the EU a major player in rare earth production. China has the market locked down with more than 60% of the total supply. The United States also purchases a large volume of rare earth minerals from China, and the Biden administration has targeted rare earth mineral production as a key component of a stronger domestic supply chain. It’s not domestic, but the US would probably prefer to buy minerals from the EU instead of China."

The UK as a small third country will have to pay top dollar for the leftovers...

I wonder if brexiteers have anything to say about this?

Does it belong to the EU then or just Sweden?

In any case, from the same source that you conveniently left out:

"LKAB cautions that it’s too early to tell China to take its mountains of rare earth minerals someplace else. The Per Geijer deposit, which sits in and around the town of Kiruna, has only just been identified. It will take several more years of exploration to determine the full extent of the deposit, and then there’s the long process of getting mining permits. Some residents of Kiruna have also expressed concern about how mining will affect the region, and that could further slow the process of getting the minerals out of the ground and into the supply chain. LKAB currently expects it will be 10-15 years before any mining operation could be up and running".

'Expectations' are usually on the optimistic side. There might not even be an EU in 15 years time.

Are you now suggesting that the brexiteers claim that a sovereign nation within the EU can't make it's own laws/rules was a lie? ;)

And you obviously don't understand the concept of an internal market

That's brexit in a nutshell !

There might not even be an EU in 15 years time.
I'll bet anything you like that the UK as it currently exists will fail way before the EU...

Over to you :)

Part three actually...

But hey, brexiteers can't count anyway...

Just like brexit doesn't add up, and never could!

Only the die hard xenophobes/racists are still believing in the brexit myth...

But luckily six years on many are no longer with us (y)
But a few of us still are and the democratic result is still the same :)

The government has produced a number of papers detailing them. I also posted a while back being able to commission yachts in the med without paying EU VAT. Previously the best deal I could get was to French flag them and save half the VAT..

If the benefits are so many and so good why doesn't anyone just present them ?

As for vat, that benefits how few or many ? A yacht is a luxury item, it's the ideal item for tax.

@JohnD I would estimate the the French VAT scheme was probably responsible for around 4000 jobs and 100M euro in VAT going to France that probably should have gone to other countries. GROUPE BENETEAU is the dominant player in the charter market, that has largely been fuelled by the tax subsidies and VAT scheme implemented.

Go to any greek marina and you will see that the vast majority of boats were French flagged, greek registered. That means boats paying VAT to France that would never be in French waters. Turkey being outside the EU had got in on the act, but the UK seems set to benefit going forward as Turkey and Greece are not very friendly toward each other.

Sailing holidays are like any other holiday, they are not the reserve of the elite. I skippered for two families on a 52 fter at the end of October and they'd paid £2.5k for the boat for the week. A boat that was providing accommodation for 9 people.

Tell me how the nation has benefitted.
