Ukraine counter offensive

What makes you say that?

Zelenskyy backs up Charlie's claim. Surely he would know, wouldn't he?

Anyway, as somebody who claims no nation with nuclear arms has ever been invaded, WTF would you know about anything?

One of the reasons that the Greek economy crashed was due to the Germans flogging them weapons they could not pay for ?

Germans have been appeasing and brown nosing the Russians / Putin for years

When Ukraine handed over their nuclear weapons to Russia, Russia guaranteed the integrity of Ukraine's borders
Ukraine didn't own the nuclear weapons based on its territory anymore than Scotland owns any UK nuclear facilities based on its territory.

It also has no history, and guilt, about invading Russia in the past
Wrong again John.
America invaded Russia in 1918 in a failed attempt to overthrow the Bolshevik government.
American troops suffered a lot on the plains of Siberia, in another pointless war.

The whole of the West has been complicit in wallowing in Putins money, London was the global centre for money laundering. Putins money is hiding in plain site in London: vastly expensive properties stuffed full of artworks and held in names of off shore trusts.
Putins cash helped the Premier league and created jobs and wealth for lot of ordinary people in Britain.
Don't be so sanctimonious.

Vlad the invader is a thug. The war crimes trial can't come soon enough,

"1. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine;

2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations;

3. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind;

4. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used;"

Putin is not able to back down.

He will not live for ever, but after the death of Stalin, the successful replacement may be equally or more belligerent.

The Russian Empire may or may not collapse.

Before 1990, hardly anyone thought the Soviet Empire would collapse

The Russian population is declining, and the proportion of educated young adults is dropping.

The price of Russian oil and gas is falling. Europe has cut its demand, and there are no pipelines to China or India.
This Schadenfreude about Russia seems to be a recurring theme, it predates the invasion of Ukraine, it even predates Putin.
Ever since i was kid, these predictions of imminent Russian collapse were always around.
It was only last year some commentators on here were gleefully predicting the collapse of the Russian economy due to EU sanctions, we looked forward to the prospect starving Russians fighting over a bowl of Borscht, while we watched on TV from the comfort of our living rooms with the heating turned up full.
The reality however, seems somewhat different.

Putins cash helped the Premier league and created jobs and wealth for lot of ordinary people in Britain.

And for the Conservative Party and members of Johnson's cabinet.

Can money buy friends?

Or do you think the money was splashed around for purely altruistic motives?

Does anybody have any idea if Ukrain hase Antonov 124 planes?
I've just watched one on flightradar24 going from Rzeszow in Poland to Leipzig. It's just landing this minute.
I'm just curious as to what it might be carrying.
Edit; I've just had another look. There's a lot of big planes, air tankers and NATO planes going in and out of Rzeszow just now. It's near to the border with Ukraine, hopefully they are carrying something special.

Antonov is a Ukrainian company. They do indeed operate them.
