New immersion element not working

If i touch the earth in the switch with the black probe and then the red against black or brown going to the immersion I get 221 reading. If I repeat in the immersion I get the same... when the power is on obviously .
This is contradicting what you last posted !!

Sorry I'm trying to be extra precise but maybe confusing things.
If I just use only the black probe and touch anywhere it's 0.
If I repeat but place the red probe on earth I get 221 on the left blue terminal, 0 on right blue, and 221 on the brown and black.

I also get 221 on the two smaller element end the blue is attached to.

You do know that to take a voltage reading you need to use both probes ,at the same time, one on each wire that are being tested ??

TBH there are so many settings on the multimeter and so many wire combinations that I would assume I am an ass. I was trying to follow your instructions literally!

If you go to the immersion itself, with sink selected and timer on, put the red probe on the black wire terminal and black on the blue wire on either side of the thermostat what do you get, repeat with red probe on the black wire in the immersion.

0 on left blue, 223 on right blue

Edit. I don't understand actually. Your repeat instruction is the same?

Sorry that should have read brown wire but doesn't matter as the sink seems correctly connected to black wire, it looks as if the thermostat contacts arn't closed, to make sure , you have placed the black probe to the left of where Shol is written on the stat and it reads 220V but reads 0V when placed on the terminal screw to the right of Shol?.

Show us a pic of your multimeter so we can see the setting you are utilizing.

No the other way round re shol. Im reading as per the pic.

Well at least your using the correct setting on the meter !
As John said ,it appears that the stat might be open circuit.

I guess to me that means the stat is faulty. It looks like it slides out and hopefully easily wired in. I'm not sure what would have caused it and would be worried a new one would go too.

Are you getting 220V as shown and 0V with the black probe on the stat right hand terminal, will post another photo in a minute.

When you remove the stat, change the M.meter to ohms and you should get 0 ( or o.2 or so) across the terminals, if it reads 1 turn the stat up /down (break the seal) you should hear a click and the M.meter reading should change.
