New immersion element not working

Well it all seems to be working!
TBH I am a little lost as to what I've tested and what has changed, if anything.
From what I can tell everything is currently as I had installed it.
The element came pre-wired, so I only touched the switch end of things, but I didn't adjust that yesterday.
And I never felt I could depress the cut-off switch.
Unless it came with a thermostat wire slightly loose?
Or some weird sequence of events (by me) caused the thermostat to need to be undone and rewired?
Either way I hope I will not be back here in a few days
