Meeting affordable housing quotas, as long as it doesn't reduce your profits

The answer is to cap the value of land by giving Council's the right to buy land at existing site value

No, that's communist thinking. The answer is to stop the millions coming here.

Local authorities' role is to grant or refuse building applications, and currently there should be a nationwide stop on all new building.

There will never be enough houses. The more you build, the more people will come. It is like widening the M25, there are just more cars on it so it needs widening again.

But why should this be so? These are not immutable laws of nature; they are things that should be controlled and limited by responsible governments.

Its the thinking of most west european democracies who don't see massive house price inflation as economically heathy.

That sounds like the next tory party policy after take back control and stop the boats. Millions aren't coming here. If it had been a concern to borris, reesmogg etc they wouldn't have given east Europeans the right to settle but deported them. Even they could see how dumb that would be.

Blup

Does anyone know why local councils are VERY reluctant to allow lots n lots of "affordable" housing to be built on their patch???

We all get old, immigration will never solve that, it will just delay the problem - until the immigrants themselves become old.
That was the beauty about being in the EU. Let the old ones return home and a fresh young new lot replaces them.

Sadly, no more. Brexit - utter pile of shít.

Really useful that. Very, many seem to be touring the streets in Transit tippers, collecting any scrap they can lay their hands on.
