Kings coronation bank holiday.

Lots of notable omissions there. The truth, the partial truth and nothing but the worst examples you can think of.

Wrong; direct cut and paste from Wikipedia.
Off the top of my head, you conveniently omitted France and Germany.

Presidential systems is what I cut and pasted.
France has both a president and Prime Minister, iirc.
Don't know about Germany, beyond a Chancellor.
Almost all modern countries elect their leaders,

So do we.
Unless it has escaped your attention, we are a constitutional monarchy. Ceremonial only, in all reality.

Does someone actually believe this?

There isn't much to stop the monarch dabbling in all political business, and their meddling isn't even recorded. We've had a queen that understood the sensitivity of this and voluntarily stood back most of the time (that we know of anyway). But this was largely her choice - she could have been much more involved if she'd wanted and nothing would have stopped her.

I very much doubt Charles is going to behave the same way, he has a long history of meddling in all kinds of issues both overtly and covertly, e.g. this sort of thing...

Hopefully Charles will be a gift for the republic movement, it looks like much of the commonwealth will ditch him as their head of state for starters. Perhaps this and whatever he does here will start to turn the previously neutral majority towards the idea of modernising our system.

I'll stick with the way it is, thanks.

To anyone who wants to have a President and be in the European Union: move to France or Germany!

Why shouldn't he get involved in politics? The monarch is the highest political power in the country. All bills must have "Royal Assent", which is seen as a formality and is always passed, and the monarch can dissolve parliament. But, if we had a more active, patriotic and caring monarch who used this power it could be the answer to all our problems. This is why I support the institution of monarchy. I don't expect much of Charles, but if a charismatic person were to take the reigns, and garner enough public support, the King could rule again.

GOD SAVE THE KING!

So you're happy to promote a position which does nothing, occupied by someone unelected, unqualified, and unaccountable to anyone.

Who is no more capable of taking the REINS than you are.

Virtually everyone in authority over us is unelected. Who voted for Ritchie Sunak? Did you vote for lockdowns; power station demolitions: mass immigration; hyperinflation etc etc? By choice I would not give money to any of those things.

Bit late as I enjoyed a nice long weekend away from all the 'celebrations'.

No I didn't vote for those things, either but - again - that's further evidence that we're not a democracy. I have a friend who lives in Washington state in the US and they just held a public consultation to ask how they would like a new highway building and where best to site it. Can you imagine the same level of public involvement here?

Sorry but for me, I wasn't going to enjoy watching some meddling parasite bask in immense wealth. Wealth taken directly from the pockets of generations of working, labouring people of this country.

You've not really thought that one through have you.
