It's most amusing when you quote from the Liberal-Lefty side of liff...

From the Oakland Inst.:
The total amount of land controlled by oligarchs, corrupt individuals, and large agribusinesses is over nine million hectares — exceeding 28 percent of Ukraine’s arable land. The largest landholders are a mix of Ukrainian oligarchs and foreign interests — mostly European and North American as well as the sovereign fund of Saudi Arabia. Prominent US pension funds, foundations, and university endowments are invested through NCH Capital, a US-based private equity fund.

In contrast to Russia where 7% of the country's total land is arable, 60% of which is used for cropland and the remainder for pasture...
The world’s largest country by territory, Russia ranks third in the world in terms of arable land with 123 million hectares. Here’s a look at the tycoons, offshore firms, and family of a former agriculture minister who own most of it.

The plot thickens.
But can you pour it over your sunday roast and make a meal of it?

Russian strategy at the start of the conflict/special operation/war was to capture Kiev and take territory in the south as far as it could.
So an observer can infer they wanted regime change.
They were swiftly kicked out of the north, and forced them to switch to the south where they made it as far as Kherson, after a tentative amphibious operation on Odessa that failed. The autumn counter attack by Ukrainian forces exposed Russian weaknesses in men and materiel that left them struggling to take Bakhmut after a year of fighting. It took them 3 months to capture Mariupol, which i suspect they expected to take in a matter of days.
None of these military operations suggest it has a great deal to do with agriculture.
Now, Russia is attempting to hold on to gains in the south and resist the Ukrainian offensive that will try to push them out altogether.

In related news, the remaining Central European dictator, Putin's unpopular buddy Lukashenko, seems to be under the weather. His grip on Belarus was tightened with the help of Russian forces who crushed dissent.

"Belarus’s leader Alexander Lukashenko is reportedly in hospital after struggling last week during a visit to Moscow and skipping lunch with Vladimir Putin.

Lukashenko, 68, missed a national event on Sunday to celebrate the flag, emblem and anthem of Belarus, during which his prime minister read on his behalf a message of good wishes for his compatriots.

Last week, Lukashenko cut short his participation in the Victory Day events held in Moscow during which his host Putin vowed to continue his war in Ukraine.

Lukashenko has been a staunch ally of Putin, also offering since last year Belarus as a base for the Russian military to pursue its strikes against Ukraine. Lukashenko was taken to a hospital near Minsk on Saturday evening, according to Euroradio and other independent Belarusian news outlets that did not cite their sources. The news has not been confirmed by the country’s state media."

How much do foreign countries or business own in the UK ?
Given the eu is a corporatists playground and the eu introduced competition laws and the Tories would sell their granny. I think this country has more than it's fair share of overseas buisness owners.
