Changing rear window for a door

Hi there, I'm new here and wanted to ask a question about how possible it is to have an external window taken out and have a door put in its place so I can use it to access my small garden.

Do I need planning permission ? Anything else that might stop this being done ?

Difficult to say as every property, area, job etc.. is different so best advice would be to contact your local Council Planning Dept and they can advise you more accurately than anybody on here can.

No.

No planning permission required, unless you live in listed building or a conservation area or suchlike.

Building regulation approval required if you are inserting a new lintel.

If there are others with an interest in the property or location - landlord, village trust or whatever, their permission may be required.
