Lucy Letby case - Evidence discussion thread

That is right to appeal the additional convictions. it just means they fall in to line with the rest. It doest change anything.

Interesting panorama programme with new evidence about her time at alderhay hospital which suggested similar outcomes. She seems to have been someone who scraped through her exams and placements, is there a broader issue of nursing standards, and pressure to deliver on nursing numbers?

Lack of competence does not = murderer. Murderers are often competent, multiple murders usually very competent.

For safety in this case, I would like to see a retrial, where all the evidence, is made available, both for the prosecution, and the evidence for the defence, which was originally omitted.

There has been murmurs about her time at another hospital. Fine but once again a lot of data is needed over a significant time period not just her time there.

Yes, as innocent as a new born baby........

The armed forces and the police and other emergency services have a black humour, its a way of dealing with the death and tragedies they encounter every day. This is not the admission of a serial killer but a private exchange that looks crass and insensitive to outsiders in tne cold light of day.

More evidence on the stats from a leading expert giving evidence to the LL inquiry. He says the spike in deaths would be expected once a year in the UKs neo natal units. He makes the point that bad things happen in clusters. Any kind of gambling illustrates that.

Meanwhile the chair of the miscarriages of justice board has resigned after criticism it didn't do enough to investigate an innocent man who served 17 years for a crime he didnt commit.

The CCRC which is the body with power to review the LL case

I think you'll find that she had to go not only because of her incompetence, but also the fact that she lied about who found the crucial DNA evidence...

And it wasn't the establishment!

Yet she bleats on about 'being made a scapegoat', whilst the real victim still hasn't got any compensation...

How many other innocent people are still suffering because the system always tries to protect itself!

The manner of her departure was interesting. The govt had no powers to dismiss her because the ccrc is an independent body. Only the Monarch could under ancient rules. She jumped because it would have been embarrassing for her cv to say she was sacked personally by tne King

I would discount that, as just a joke between friends, rather than any evidence. We all get involved with black humour, without it meaning any serious intent. How many times have you threatened to murder your own kids?

The entire conviction is based on statistics, and suspicion, which suggests to me it is unsound. Guilty she may be, but the evidence fails to convince me.

She'll no doubt get another role at an exorbitant pay rate courtesy of the taxpayer...

The system protects it's own and failure always pays!

It does seem that the role needs to be full time. As to the system protecting its own, name one that doesn't. In your ideal world do you think it would be any different? That's not to say we shouldn't try.
