I'm coming to the end of my Octopus Tracker contract, and like many on this tariff - I'm wondering whether to stick, or go to another tariff. It's been a great saving on the electric part of my bill, for the entire year, but over recent weeks, it has crept up to higher than the cap. Tomorrow will be 42.13p versus the 23.86p of the SVP.

Gas at least, has been consistently below the SVP, though it has crept nearer to it, over the weeks.

I certainly would not advise anyone move to the Tracker at the moment ;)

Don't all these offers rely on people not bothering to change providers, so they make their profit down the line. That sems to have started already with your.

Costs generally have shot up, but the Tracker tariff on offer next, makes things even less worthwhile. The wind, due over the next few days, should bring the cost down - if it's suitable wind.

A phone call can often suffice...

We were threatened with a large rise on our soon to be ending tariff...

Strangely enough after a bit of 'negotiation' we are now going to be paying significantly less for our next deal :)

Big organisations don't deliver on the customer care they promise, but I've found that they are generally sensitive about complaints and that is where the best leverage can be obtained.

I tried unsuccessfully to end a utility contract by phone but was passed from pillar to post, so sent a recorded letter to the address that by law energy providers have to give for service of documents. It cost a bit because I opted for the signed for service. They persisted in denying receipt of the notice and kept sending threatening letters, even when I put in a customer complaint. After an appeal, they issued a full apology and paid compensation in the low hundreds.
