They bombed my mums house FFS.
It was feking 85 years ago
If you want to talk about WW2, my Mums side of the family grew up in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey, it’s on the Thames and had a Royal Navy dockyard. Sheerness was bombed extensively during the war.
My Nans house had bullet hole damage on the brickwork where the German fighter pilots ran down the street machine gunning the rows of houses. The train my Mum got to school got machine gunned a few times by German fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain.
Interestingly Sheerness has a shipwreck just off the beach, it’s an American vessel the SS Richard Montgomery, that had a full cargo of bombs etc to the dockyard and it ran aground and sunk. It’s still there today, still full of explosive.
My Dad got home from school one day and his mum and dad sat him and his brother down and said: “we’ve been offered evacuation for you to Wales, would you like to go” My Dad didn’t know what to do but his brother Gordon said yes, so my Dad said yes.
They went to Wales, he ended up in a different home to his brother, he was 12 and stayed there 2 years. Just the occasional letter was the extent of his communication with his mum and dad.
My Dad voted to remain in the EU, because he believed it was the best way to maintain peace.
Sadly Filly you seem driven by spite and vengeance, which explains your attitude towards the EU and your support for Trump.
As an aside, I’ve just seen your thread re your operation: I hope you recover well and get back to pain free movement. It’s certainly a scary operation to have, it’s pretty brutal and amazing how fast the body can repair itself from such major surgery
