Voting age to be reduced to 16

Then the conservatives will abolish it, they just set Labour up to fail and Labour can’t see it lol.
Eh? PAYE tax is checked/adjusted on a weekly basis. SE submitting once a year is outdated, it is not difficult to press a button 4 times a year.

It’s more work and more money to spend!

It’s a good job you are not SE anymore by the sounds of things.

4 times a year isn't unreasonable, VAT submissions are quarterly/monthly. You probably have bigger things to worry about.
It’s 5 actually, 4 additional times.

Plus the book keeper fees etc.

Nothing is free when you’re SE, not even time

IMHO I think 18, especially with children leaving school at an older age (17, 18 and later) a change is necessary.
IMO rather than set an age I'd say you have to have 2 years after leaving full time education before being allowed to vote.

I haven't been SE for a while now, but records have to be digital now anyway. You'd just be clicking a button 4 times a year instead of one, if your records are up to date.
Tax affairs going digital is inevitable. Quarterly updates won't be an issue, as all the info will be stored digitally, so it can be buzzed over.
I'm not keen on the Idea but I accept it. MTD apps will or probably are available. I'll get the missus or the kids to 'update' me.

Labour- Let’s make it harder for the SE, and more expensive! Let’s make a painter and decorator file an extra 4 times on top of their end of year
Nwgs2 is complaining that Labour are bad for the Self Employed because of a tax policy set up by the Tories 4 years ago.

You really couldn’t make it up :ROFLMAO:

Making Tax Digital will be an annoyance for people who currently leave their accounts until the last minute then panic in Jan, but once set up it will be easier for them as they will be forced to have up to date accounts and will be more organised.

I know quite a few tradesmen who miss the Jan 31st deadline and end up paying a fine every year.

Anybody VAT registered has been doing quarterly VAT returns digitally for years.

And any tradesman who pays sub contractors will have been doing CIS payment digitally every month.

That means pretty much every bone fide builder who does extensions will be doing all this anyway.

CIS is a right pain….the number of tradesmen that say they are CIS registered, but actually aren’t amazes me. I forget the number of times I’ve gone to verify somebody only to find they are only registered self employed not set up as a CIS sub contractor
