Do you think that having to jump through hoops is an acceptable process to get a timely appointment with a doctor?
I don't.
My surgery won't even allow patients to book appointment if they walk in at any time of the day.
All patients must complete an online form.

The thing that started all of this shoddy service was covid.
GPs learned to like doing hardly any work and still be paid handsomely for it.
It's a gig that they'll keep exploiting for as long as possible.

Use a landline because they dial faster. Telephone the number about thirty seconds before it is due to come online. You will get the answerphone first time. Then just keep pressing redial over and over until you get a proper connection. I don't like doing it. It feels wrong. But it seems to work.

I do use a LL but it's a lottery so early inn t'day. Better to try in the a.noon but no time for me to do so as the weather's too fine to sit around hanging on the t.bone.
