arrived a bit late

We absolutely love it up there. Seahouses to bamber is a nice walkNorthumberland coast.
Absolutely stunning scenery, but it would have been more enjoyable if the wind hadn't swung round to a northerly the day we arrived.
My daughter didn't care, she was having a paddle regardless.View attachment 380717View attachment 380718

Yep.Your boat mate?

Very nice, I am just looking to doing the day skipper ticket.Yep.

Yes I really fancy just getting a small yacht and doing sailing rather than motor. I have been looking at online courses for the theory and doing the practical laterIf you need any help let me know. Day skipper is good fun. theory and practical. I'm commercial YM OS, I did think about doing cruising instructor course, but too busy. I assume you are doing sail, not power? Is your plan to do some flotillas once you get your ticket?
You'll need ICC too and Radio licence. But the ICC comes almost free with RYA membership, they will give it to anyone with Day skipper.

The E type had not stood the test of time in the way the Dino hasI know this is heresy. But I never liked the E Type!
If you are anywhere close to a yacht club, see if they offer a course, or know anyone who does.I think the yacht master would be beyond me but day skipper would be more realistic, could you reccomend me an online course, it's a minefield of them.

It doesn't matter who you go with if you are doing online. Pick the cheapest. For the practical I can recommend a few when you are ready. Also RG's advice is good, there are plenty of clubs that can get you access to boats for not much money. Where are you looking to sail?I think the yacht master would be beyond me but day skipper would be more realistic, could you reccomend me an online course, it's a minefield of them.

Actually there is a RYA sailing club close by, I took a look last weekend at their place as you can berth your boat there, as silly as it sounds I didnt actually ask if the ran any courses. I will pop down at the weekend and ask. Thanks for the adviceIf you are anywhere close to a yacht club, see if they offer a course, or know anyone who does.
I did mine at a local club, it was so much more personal than an online course; it got me great local knowledge and an 'in' into the club, if you did want to use their facilities and berthing.
Our course tutor was a veteran club member and an ex RNLI coxswain of the local Station.
He really knew his stuff, and this type of local knowledge is invaluable to a novice; it's just not the same online.

I will seek the cheapest one out after the club near to me does any.It doesn't matter who you go with if you are doing online. Pick the cheapest.
