Hay Fever

Aller Eze was a good hay fever tab for relieving symptoms

aka the generic medicine Loretadine and cheap as chips if one avoids the Brand Name (Clarityn in the UK).
Cetirizine is another non-drowsy alternative (Allacan, Benadryl).
The latest is Fexofenadine (Treathay, Allevia) in 120mg dose (POM in the stronger 180mg). {Sadly "horse-pill" size, but work better than the former two in my wife's opinion.}

Piriton Brand (generic name Chlorphenamine) is a drowsy inducing antihistamine my wife uses for a good nights sleep.

It's been tree pollens so far, I believe. Grass is to come soon I'm told by my long suffering wife.

It's not been warm enough to need ac yet

It has here, though earlier this year. Darned solar gain.
The bedroom has been well over the comfortable 18C as well so it's used to cool that down.

I get it terribly, I also have the same symptoms as yourself. We put air conditioning all around the house, both bedrooms and the lounge, we also got a Dyson hyper filter heat and cool fan. All a big expense but I do not suffer whilst in the house that much at all now. I dread going out though now we have a safe house.

I have hay fever and it can be severe. I find that keeping the bedroom windows shut from about 4 pm till 10/11pm helps. The pollen tends to fall as the temperatures drop. I also rinse my face when I get back indoors with cold water to wash any pollen away.

Daily anti histamines, currently loratadine but previously cetirizine. Its worthwhile changing occasionally as the body can get used to the drug. I also use beconase and eye drops when its really bad.

The recent dry weather with brisk winds will have increased the pollen being circulated in the air. I have air-con in the lounge and bedrooms but its not been needed yet this year.

Get it when pollen count really high, which it was recently (tree pollen?). Ironically by the sea at the time

I normally only get it at the start of spring, it’s usually gone by now.

In the last few years it’s been a lot calmer. This year/week is like I’ve got flu. I’ve got aches and pains now.

The last time I had it this bad was in Orlando, they have an antihistamine with a steroid in here there. That did the job!

Taking Locally produced honey is meant to help .
You can go to a pharmacist and get an injection that is meant to stop it.
Also as the summer progresses various pollens are released at different periods so you might only be allergic to certain tree pollens or grass pollens

I might try the honey.

I avoid injections if possible. Hopefully I won’t need one.

Whatever pollen starts in march/April gets me, or used to. It used to be like I’d been on vodka all night.

I got some cheap antihistamines from Aldi out of desperation one year, they worked immediately and I thought brilliant, next year they did nothing. Tried local honey from a bee keeper was paying £8 for a small jar. put in my coffee ate it off the spoon, usual thing. Nothing. Only the air con and Dyson works all the time. Worth the investment.

I can see now why aircon makes sense for those with bad hayfever. It means you can leave the windows closed. I am lucky never to have had hayfever. It sounds awful.

Yeah, apparently it’s a 7 year cycle. Or at least that’s what I’ve been told.

I got mine when I moved house.

the beauty of it is not only does it serve a purpose for hay fever but the advantage of heating and cooling too. You have to get the aircon with the pollen filters for it to be ultra effective though.
