He advocated area bombing at night as it was deemed safer for British airmen, while Americans were convinced they could achieve a greater accuracy with daylight raids and heavily armed aircraft. I don't think either one of 'em was right. The technology was too crude, by modern standards.

Curiously, German armament production actually increased towards the end of the war, leading some modern historians to conclude it was a failure and too many civilian casualties were inflicted.

This is madness. I cannot believe how anyone can go against our UKSF who are sent to do a job that none of us could possibly do.Then have the audacity to defend and accuse of war crimes without any real evidence. My suspicion is that this is a leaked body cam and it has been seen as murder by civillians who simply do not understand the ferocity of the war in Afghanistan. No way would our UKSF be considered as murderous. I served in Afghanistan and not once did I see anything that could be considered as murder. A war is brutal and killings and violence are a daily occurance. These people who are being accused must feel sick over this. This whole investigation has been started by the BBC who are known for creating drama, that is their whole business. Can you seriously see the UKSF acting in a way that is going against the whole principles of their regiment and bringing shame on it. 100% that they wouldn't. They act and serve in complete silence and do not act in a manner that anyone could turn against them let alone they turn on each other. The silly accusations that children asleep in their beds were executed is absolute BS. I think this thread has shown how we can turn against each other and the keyboard warriors spout their rubbish and hatred without actually knowing any of the facts other than reading what the BBC has put out. The MOD would not comment on this in this way and the SAS and SBS certainly would not either. I doubt this story holds any water other than being dramatised by the BBC for its own agenda.

The facts were covered up by the military and the government for years.

I think it's pretty endemic in some services that psychotic killers exploit the opportunity to kill, with the knowledge that someone has their back.
At last there are some in that service that have had the courage to stand up and be counted.

It's also pretty endemic in another service meant to protect us, that has been institutionally racist, and harbour sex offenders.
Then there are the institutions designed to care for our body and souls that harbour sex abusers and exploit the opportunity to abuse children.

You need to acknowledge that terrorists murder innocent people and these soldiers who you refer to who are on the front lines to protect you from their harm. Would you like to face a crowd of thousands of them as in this case of Bloody Sunday. Yes I agree that if a soldier commits a crime then he should indeed face the consequences to the full extent of the Law. However governments send in the military to do a job and in a war situation that job involves using lethal force. Do not cry when that force is used. In the case of Bloody Sunday eccessive force may well have existed.

The government do not employ psychopathic murderers. The nature of the job along with the training and the stress of the situation can make some turn out that way. It is more of a mental health issue than anything.
