I wonder if you consider using existing / installed software ( apps ) to be "software engineering"Why do you ask?
Reminds me of an iron lump we pulled out of a footing trench in Stafford...Highway Man provides the energy personally to keep this famous lamp alight

Some existing software is used, the technology is rapidly evolving as new software is needing developement and goes hand in hand. Some software is not capable of the new features of smart lighting therefore a new software is needed to incorporate these advances, gateways allow for new and old to communicate with existing software but is limited by default. Upgrades are similar to any computer networks.I wonder if you consider using existing / installed software ( apps ) to be "software engineering"
In changing light bulbs?I have put it to good use many times over.
using the controls of your cherry picker? Yes there will be some safety features that will use software, but you'll be mostly unaware of them.I use it in my job currently. My job is very high tech and involves the use of software engineering daily.
How has it helped you in changing light bulbs?I think you are blind as to what a computer science degree can do for you.
Is this English? They are English words but the sentence does not make sense. You obviously fail to learn what basic tenet is
Street light repairer/cleaner?or you wouldn't be quoting me as a bulb changer.
It seemed to have attracted you to a DIY site. So his/her advice wasn't completely wasted.Good grief.
You remind me of a teacher who once wrote in my report card. He will never amount to anything and should get a trade or a job using his hands like becoming a builder.

Mainly on the up in my case, I enjoy the good things in life. How about you?Street light repairer/cleaner?
Life is full of ups and downs, what?![]()
There's nothing stopping the Forrigist gammons doing the same here, is there? The French would be blockading the beaches
The OU has over 200,000 students.Open University is just a different way to learn, it’s distance learning.
It’s done by people who might have full time jobs or are a mother perhaps.
It requires a lot of commitment.
I am sorry but calling it a joke is demeaning

That is what the Ui ranking institutes do.it is more demeaning by stating the OU is higher ranked than Hulll University too.

The OU may well have 200.000 students, I wonder what courses they are taking. I agree though some OU courses may well be worth doing but the reality is that some courses do not carry the same clout as a traditonal University. The OU has over 200,000 students.
Over 2 million students have fulfilled their goal of obtaining a degree while working, being a parent, being posted abroad, etc.
Doing an apprenticeship and enjoying the paid-for post-military learning opportunity is hardly demanding.
In addition the Army will often continue paying a serving soldier their military pay while they are completing their degree.
They would probably be stationed in the Army Barracks in Hull, to ease their accommodation worries.
From a computer science degree stance, there really is no comparrison due to the fact of facilities and level of hands on experience you get from these facilities.
You think a computer science student would not have access to a computer of the required specification to complete their degree?Unfortunately from a degree in computer science you cannot compare the two, other subjects are more realistic to do home study.
Cherry Picker up/down controls, especially the in-built safety features. You have shown examples of lamp posts you have worked on, replacing and/or cleaning lamps etc.
What aspect of your work assignments involves software engineering ?
