At the end of the day, you need boots on the ground to secure territory.

Fully agree, but Iran would be far superior on the ground and on their own territory than Israel. Iran have more troops available for a ground war. The Ukranians are making great use of drones and are disabling more tanks and arrmour through the use of drones than their own ground soldiers are doing. The ground soldiers are literally holding lines and why we are seeing a stalemate situation before the use of these drones. Russia are killing the Ukranians through sheer numbers of ground troops.

What happening in the Middle East is resurgence of old fashioned imperialism, the Americans are taking over where the French and British left off.
Israel is America's agent in the region.

I don't understand it. But there are loads of articles about how things have changed since Trump's first term. Possibly, the idea was that with enough cooperation and inspections they could contain Iran to just nuclear power.

It isn't just about Irans nuclear programme, that problem could have been solved without bloodshed.
Israel wants rid of the Palestinian threat, countries supporting the Palestinians make that objective all the harder to achieve, by cutting off outside support for the Palestinians, the hope is that they will be demoralised enough to feck off somewhere else and allow the Israelis to take their land and airbrush them from history.

I am hoping he can negotiate a peaceful settlement before this escalates further. I dread to think how Trump would react as a president in the event of a war. I suspect the world has those fears too
