I'd missed that. I actually like men's doubles. It's so insanely fast and brutal.

I hadn't watched it for many years. But I turned on the men's final by chance last year and I really got into it.

I did think about that last year. They might need different skills. You need really good volleying for doubles, but you might not need the incredible athleticism needed for singles. It would be interesting to see.

I think the prizes are very small in comparison, which means the best singles players aren't tempted. I remember John McEnroe was a great doubles team with Peter Fleming in the 1980s. But since then, I can't think of a big men's name who has taken it seriously.
