Rupert Lowe.

I spent a solid year, working on a contract in Italy. Mostly with Italians working with me, who spoke no English. I picked enough Italian up to get by, especially technical/engineering language, they were desperately keen to work with me, and learn English.

DEPORTED

As they're not brown, do the drug dealers who live near me not count?
Count for what - I've no idea what you’re on about. Are we accepting unchecked drug dealers into the country and housing them in hotels at the same rate we are accepting so-called asylum seekers then?

As a minister, she was about to make it illegal to do what she had just done. Hypocrite.
There is nothing illegal about charging market rent, the new law allows yearly increases. She was bringing the rent up to market levels, which she could have under the new legislation. The eviction was to help her sell the house on the open market, four months notice was very reasonable.

That's exactly what it was. She put the house on the market at an inflated price, so that it wouldn't sell.
The market isn't strong atm even in London, she tested it and found it wasn't meeting her expectations. I don't buy that this was a convoluted plot to hide her motives, it certainly didn't work if that was her way of controlling the spin.

That's the problem, nobody is happy about it (boat people), but there is no easy answer. We can't control who is leaving France, yet.
Look at what Rupert Lowe said. Automatically agrees there is no definitve way to do it......

He added that if the people on board were illegal migrants he would be "using every tool" to ensure they were deported.

Well, the labour government are sending people back, and closing down the hotels, so people really should be happy with the progress this government is making.

Bring back Tories, or bring in Reform, and it will reverse again, with corruption and incompetance leading to cuts in immigration processing, forcing us to house asylum seekers and refuges rather than send them back!

But, people don't want to hear that ...

There's certainly a tool involved ...

How many have they sent back?
more than any previous government. As of March 2025, the government stated that over 24,000 people with "no right to be" in the UK had been returned since the general election in July 2024.

Where are the people going when they close them?
a variety of places, such as proper homes (probably utlising some of the 750,000 empty properties in the UK), maybe with sponsors, etc.

Don't you just hate it when the political party you've been told are wrong, keep doing the things that the political party you always support failed to do?
