I need some help choosing a van.
I wont out count electric but I dont think I want to buy new.

I have £12000 sitting ready.
I could pull another £6000 from another pot.
My car is worth maybe £3000.
Another £1000 maybe from another van.
If i had to borrow id say £30000 is my upper limit.

Im 58 now . Ill be working until I'm 70. I want a van to last me till I retire and possibly beyond.

I want a Double cab with 5-6 seats but wouldn't want a open top truck.

I want something that's bullet proof ...... this saying I know its more than likely Diesel ⛽️ and not knowing how Diesel vehicles will be viable in 5-10 years.

LWB transporter Kombi

I like this idea as they are as close to bullet proof as an old van can be.

Id struggle to get a 5 year old under 1000.000 for les than £25000. Yet I day this is my favourite option as it stands.

Toyota Hilux.....can have up to 10 years warranty but have the underside treated!

Hello John

What do you mean by underside?

The 10 year warranty does appeal as Im not likely to do 1000,000 in any rush.

I could get a longer loan of maybe 5 6 years.

The only thing is will it lose alot of its value in years to come as we get closer to net zero?

Or are you thinking Electric?

Forgive me but I don’t understand your post

VW Crafter!

To big for me mate. I would love to have one in a way that I could convert to a camper once Ive retired.

The sort of work I plan on doing im the next 10 years would require a smaller van.

Sorry. This is my problem I dont think I get it either.

I love these vans but is £25000 well spent on a diesel van of that age.

I suppose if its worth nothing in 10 years, then I suppose I've had my moneys worth. Thats if I xan afford to put diesel in any vehicle in 10 years.

Would I be better spending 25 grand on a Renault traffic with more mod cons, if Im going to chuck it away after 10 years

Traditionally the Toyota has legendary reliability and is the general choice of work horse.
Like most vehicles of this type, they are very strong chassis wise but rust badly......some underbody treatment will make it last for many years!

My last 3 vans have been brand new. Ive not regretted any of them.

If i believe it Viable then Id like the luxury of brand new.

Have you got any Toyota dealers up your way that sell vans.

Im up your way next week so Ill use the time to look about a bit.

Me and my girls have an Airbnb fir the week.
