Another record milestone for Labour. 50,000…

The more a giv

I find this place a bit too addictive at times. While I would be the first to admit I don’t work very hard for my money. I do sometimes post while reading something else (that I should be focused on). I am also dyslexic and have to flesh my ideas, correct and correct again.

This is why you will sometimes see an edit. Which I will hold my hand up to.

I have noticed that recently and am trying to adapt. There are another couple of posters who often make very substantial edits in the first couple of minutes after posting. So, I am now trying to leave any post I see from those posters at least five minutes before replying. Which is difficult if you are in the middle of a back and forth!

I’m not so excited about people coming here to play the system.

Even if that were true (which largely, it is not: immigrants are evidentially a positive benefit to the economy), it will be to relative chicken feed amounts.
State handouts are just not that large.

Whereas you regularly brag about your ability and intention to play the system, to deny the Exchequer much larger bundles of your bunce.

This, and posting on a 'phone, then reading it back on the laptop and seeing the damn autocorrects, formatting issues (for whatever reason, my on-'phone formatting options are non-existent) and so forth.

Not all immigrants. Only generally hard working Polskis/EEs and those coming to fill job vacancies where there is a skills shortage. Unfortunately this will be largely offset by the parasitic detritus that washes up on these shores and the much larger numbers of useless legal migrants.

And yet I remain a net contributor by a massive margin.

You’re dreaming about the cost of illegal immigration on the tax payer. BTW

It’s not just the costs of housing, its services, policing, legal aid costs, healthcare etc. it’s many billions. It’s also queue jumping.

It is worth remembering that almost all of the cost comes out of the foreign aid budget. If it wasn't being spent here in the UK on these foreigners, it would be sent abroad to be spent on other foreigners. I know that is just one part of this whole issue which many people are angry about. But it might make them feel better if they were aware of this fact.

It is a bit like the hotels issue. If people realise that these asylum seekers are not actually living in "four star luxury", then that might make them feel a bit better too. I know there are plenty other parts of this issue for people to be angry about. But taken together, these bits of information might help tamp down some of the anger and let us focus on real solutions.
