Dangerous electric usage?

Hi,
A derelict pub is being done up by the shop on the opposite side of the road. Last week they installed an electric cable that runs from the front of the shop across the road and into the upper floor of the pub. Is this safe? Presumably this is so that power tools can be used without a generator.

If it’s a public highway it’s an obstruction quite apart from any other danger or nuisance. Contact the highway authority and to find out if they are aware.

Safe, absolutely not. Inform your local councillor, they should know which authority to contact, to have it sorted out.

Maybe from one house, to another, next door - but that appears to be live cable, strung like a washing line, over a public road - this isn't India.

Looks no different to telephone or broadband cables that are also strung across the road.

It's likely very temporary.

I suppose if a tall wagon snapped it, could end up with a live end flailing about on the pavement zapping cyclists (give them smething else to complain about)

what happens with proper outside power lines - do they automatically disconnect themselves if they are broken - or can they sometimes be live ?

The entire front of the shop looks like an unsafe lash-up. I wonder what the DNO would have to say, about them exporting a supply to another building, across a public road?
