The main thing she was guilty of was "gross stupidity" in saying those things in the first place.
She had to go guilty - a non guilty would have greatly increased her sentence, as she knew she had no chance if it went to trial.

What do you reckon - interviews with her non stop on Farages GB News all day tomorrow ?

Ricky Jones was as guilty as she was.
He took the risk that the Jury would not find him guilty.
I think Lucy Connolly would have found similar sympathy.

Thats without looking at the possible defence arguments:
- Her text was not a call for action, but a comment of apathy
- Asylum Seekers are not protected as race or ethnic group
- The law limits her free speech.
- Once she realised, she had been misinformed she deleted the post.

She clearly went with a guilty plea, to make the whole thing go away as quickly as possible and avoid spending 10s of thousands mounting a defence she probably couldn't afford.

Can she do that if she is still on licence. If she claims she was not guilty, will she mess up her reduced sentence and her early release. Another question where @motorbiking will hopefully know the answer.

She was sentenced to more than 12 months, so she will have Licence conditions. She will be presented with what these are, she does not have to agree to them, but failure to comply is grounds for recall.
Obviously she must avoid reoffending, but a condition that says she cannot discuss her case would not be grounds for recall.

Here's a thought, maybe we should have a rethink at what offences and circumstances should result in prison.

A suspended sentence would have served the same result.
