Lucy Connolly to be freed

Well blow me down. Perhaps she was guilty after all.
Ahh Nosenout shares his legal wisdom on why people plead guilty, if only everyone had your legal expertise, we wouldn't need lawyers.

Has it ever occurred to you that people plead guilty because:
- they don't understand the seriousness of the crime
- they don't understand the possible defences
- they can't afford to get a defence but are not eligible for legal aid.
- they just want it all to go away and the nice policeman has said the best thing to do is confess.

Automatic release at 40%.

Here's a thought, maybe we should have a rethink at what offences and circumstances should result in prison.

A suspended sentence would have served the same result.
Maybe but there is a clear deterrent effect on people who can’t be bothered to check their facts before they launch their tirade.

As explained by the judges in the Court of Appeal. They took into account that the nation was gripped by riots.

Released less than half way through her sentence, outrageous, the country’s going to the dogs.
She was only released after Trumps visit to his golf club and Starmer went up to see him and Trump gave him a lecture. Just leave it a couple of weeks so that it is not obvious that is all that happened here. ;)

  • Offenders sentenced to at least two years but less than four years will normally serve half their sentence (40% for most offences from September 2024) in prison and serve the rest of the sentence in the community on licence. While on licence an offender will be subject to supervision and the licence will include conditions. If an offender breaches their conditions, they may be recalled to prison.

The former childminder, from Northampton, was ordered to serve 40% of her sentence in prison before being released on licence.

26. The sentence on count 1 therefore is one of 31 months imprisonment. You will serve forty percent of that sentence. When you are released you will remain on license for the balance of the sentence and if you fail to accord with the terms of the license or commit any further offence you can be returned to serve the balance of the sentence.

I think this unfortunate episode in her life could well turn out to be very lucrative if she welcomes her 'notoriety'.
The negative slant thrusted squarely at 2tk's door is also much appreciated.
The poor woman certainly didn't deserve any of this, but hopefully she can now rebuild her life and must be elated to finally hug her 12yo daughter once again.
I wish her all the best.
Milk it for all you can, Lucy.
She pled guilty because she was terrified of going to prison and losing her kids. And because she was told she was guilty by her brief. Why would you wish Tommie Robinson notoriety on her.

Yes I feel she had bad legal advice. It happens.

When you look at Ricky Jones it’s no different.

She should never have been in prison....it's ridiculous

I actually think people like Lucy Connolly are victims, it’s people like Farage who incited hatred and encouraged riots that should be brought to justice.
