Reform immigration plan

You have missed my point. It was an extreme example to highlight the limits of the inherent protections we have here in the UK. If we leave the ECHR and the treaty banning torture, there is nothing in theory to stop a government passing a law to make torture legal. It was a reply to noseall, who said we would always have human rights in the UK, even if we left these international treaties.
It won’t happen though will it.

The "Human Rights Act" cleverly named, because who would want to lose/repeal their Human Rights. As some of the forum idiots have suggested. If you are Human, you need Human Rights.

We've already discussed the issues of the HRA. We should not pass laws that limit future democracy. The HRA is one such act that tried to do this.

don't be daft.

No: you have Human Rights (in any decent democracy and society, anyway).

The HRA is not giving you rights: it is protecting your rights (including from malign regimes).

Explain why not. Parliament is sovereign and can do whatever it likes.
What do we do to Parliament's we don't like? What constitutional powers limit parliament from cancelling democracy?

The very laws that grant parliament power also define the terms of their power.

So you are fine with it being amended/replaced then?

We can vote them out at the next election.

The rest is a bit vague and waffley.

Thats constitutional law for you.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Nice try.

Your vague waffle doesn't cut through with somebody who actually understands the legal principles.

If you want to have another go, actually using a bit of law, that would be helpful.

Parliament is the Supreme legal authority in the UK. They are not granted powers by any constitution or higher being. They can do whatever they want.

Lets see how you get on then..

So they can cancel the need to dissolve parliament and have elections?
