Black people can definitely express racial hatred towards white people and that can be prosecuted as a hate crime.

Where people often get confused is over the other definition of racism i.e. racial discrimination. That is to do with power. A black person might hate white people, but unless s/he has the power over white people to turn that hatred into discrimination, then it isn't racial discrimination.

We covered this a lot last year in the "G word" debate. It all comes down to intent. Calling somebody an Aussie or a Brit is friendly. Calling somebody a P**i is done with hate.

I didn't even realise we had discussed this recently.

Probably most people intend it to hurt.

But the one time I used it, that was meant to be a bit of silly fun.

I would imagine that most people who use snowflake also mean it to hurt.
