I have a skoda octavia mk2 with just over 150k miles on it. Ever since ive had it has had a click from the clutch pedal. Not exactly sure what it could be cant seem see anything either. Just wondering whats the best way to fix it, or things it could be

Can you clarify for us if your clutch has a cable or is hydraulically operated please?
If it has a cable, it sounds like an automatic pedal adjuster giving problems.
John :)

That horrible plastic ratchet is engraved on my skull.....my back and neck haven’t been the same since!
Devils design, that one.

Do you have to put your foot on clutch to start car ? if so could be the switch clicking .
If self adjuster slipping I think you would notice it when using clutch pedal you would feel it

Check the brackets that support the (Clutch) pedal check they are not broke or twisting. As it's VW group car I guess it's a cable clutch - check where the clutch cable outer is held on the 'firewall' - is that panel OK.
If those areas are OK then change the cable.

It could be the start inhibit switch being noisy.

Louder than the issue I had (a clicky switch which was never sorted, as it happens) but, as Kev and Fred have already said, this might be the issue.

Both our 2008 Golf and our 2017 A3 were hydraulic clutches.
All the Golf's I had cable clutches, as did VW group Seat's I owned.

The cable on the Seat pulled through the bulkhead/firewall.

I suffered that misfortune in a GM Avenger Estate in the middle of nowhere on a wet Sunday. Fortunately, I found a Jubilee clip in the spares & rag box so effected a successful repair that was still in place when I sold the old girl onwards.
