Went to a funeral of mrs Motties friends dad today. Nice old fella - when his wife passed away, she'd bring him away with us a few times when we went away as a large group over the new year - he wasn’t too good on his legs so he was the dog sitter if we all went out of a night and left the dogs behind. He always looked forward to my breakfasts. A standing saying between us was "What do you fancy for breakfast today, Chris?" "I’ll have the lot Steve, I’m all inclusive"! 
I was waiting for you to say that his wife brought him over and left/moved away. A bit like Uncle Albert!

Trying to fathom, a combi-microwave oven's turntable out. Our combi packed in a few years ago, so I bought a used one, fairly cheap, as a put us on, to research and go buy a replacement, except - it has worked so well, we are still using it, apart from the round glass on the turntable, just doesn't seem to fit right, and sometimes falls off the drive....
Motor below, has a recessed below the deck, D shaped drive shaft. A plastic part fits that, with the usual three arms, to locate onto the underside of the glass dish, with the dish stabilised, by a ring, with three little wheels, but the plastic, three-armed part, is set too low, to properly locate with the dish, to drive it round reliably.

Now sorted!
It seems the glass plate, was the wrong one, and didn't quite fit, properly on the three arms. The plastic part sat too low, and the arms too wide to fully locate into the socket, molded in the plate.
My first attempt at a fix failed - I tried to add a Milliput molding, on top of the plastic part. The Milliput soon cracked in use, and came adrift.
My second attempt at a fix, seems much better. I fettled the three arms of the plastic, so it sat tight under the glass plate's socket. The plastic part then just needed to be sat on the D drive shaft higher, by around 3mm, with a little bit of springiness. I ended up slicing an electrical grommet in two, so it was around 3mm thick.

Been into BMW, saw the manager run for the door, beat him to it and gave him a piece of my mind. Got my money back for the ceramic coating I didn't ask for. Still have to pay the road tax though.
More clearing out of my mums house earlier today. My sister found a letter from Coventry BS and it turned out she had a substantial sum in there too. They are sending me details of what to do about it. Didn’t bring us any joy at all - we wished she'd have spent it all, left nothing and enjoyed the last 20 years of her life but she was just too consumed with 'health anxiety' or hypochondria as it was known years ago.
Just got back from my mums again as we had a meeting there this evening with the minister to sort out the order of service. My sister specifically asked for him as he carried out the service for our dad 11 years ago and he still had all the notes for that on his laptop, much of which we could use again. He suggested a poem which set us both off but we are keeping that in. Apart from sending some photos to be shown on the screens during the service and finalising the numbers for the cars and the wake, that’s it until the funeral on Friday week. We're taking our kids and grandkids away to Center Parcs this weekend so hopefully I can take my mind off of it for a few days.

all fully turned now and the mortices and tenons all cut
first one glued in - tricky bit next getting the other two to the same height so the table sits level - some times this is easy and quick, other times its a nightmare
tip for when doing tenons - cut them so that they are just a little too tight, then nip the tenons in a vice until they are slim enough to slide in - the dampness in the pva will get them to spring / swell back out (like a biscuit does in a biscuit join)

Bl**dy conkers....
Yesterday, whilst waiting for Av, outside Lidl, whilst she did her quick shop, I spotted a large pile of conkers, discarded by someone. I pointed them out to Av, on her return, thinking she might want them for her grandkids - easier than collecting them on the parkland, at the end of the street. She collected the lot...
With the warm weather over, I decided this morning was a good time to take the fly screen down, from the side/back door, got the steps, and my screwdriver/drill out, and began unscrewing the screen. I kept getting showered with conkers! Looked around, no one near???
The explanation was - She'd wanted the conkers, because she'd heard conkers keep spiders out. She put them all over the house, and tucked lots of them on the overhanging fly screen mesh.
