All I can say is God help you if you ever become disabled.
Given the chance, I would quite happily shrug off my disabilities (yes, I have several) and be fit and able.
This is not the first time I have said this. Last time, it was when I was provoked into a face to face argument with someone who I shall decline to identify. There were others in the room. I wanted to back down and stay quiet, but I decided to speak up, so I stood up and spoke up for myself, explaining that I have struggled my whole life with disability. With physical issues, with metal issues and the attitudes of other people. Obviously, this was never going to happen for all the tea in China, but I told him I would dearly love to be able to do all the things that fit and able-bodied people do, but that was never going to be possible. There was a lot more, but that was the gist of it.
Now, I'm big enough and strong enough to no longer be affected by what people think of me personally, but I do find it appalling that folk have this attitude towards disabled people today. There doesn't seem to be any care or compassion, but I'm sure things would be different if they became disabled one day.
