Stop arguing over the narrow technicality of the Merchant Navy not being one of the armed forces, and accept that in the context of WW2 , given the risks they faced, the losses they suffered, the numbers who lost their lives, were wounded, or were captured, for you to characterise those people in that war as

You can pretend that I said, their war efforts were somehow inferior or that they did not put their lives at risk as much as you like, but it remains a dishonest attempt to deflect from the obvious error that was made.

It's not pretending.
The context was the Merchant Navy in WWII. It was obviously and undoubtedly WWII. It was WWII all along. It was WWII in the words you wrote.
And in that context you characterised the Merchant Navy as
"Merchant Navy"

The modern Merchant Navy was not, and never had been, what was being talked about. What was being talked about was the Merchant Navy in WWII.

From what I can gather he courts the attention! All of his user names do.
I think the mods are sick and tired of receiving hundreds of reports a day from all the various Himmys.
At the same time they get lots of hits with this nutcase posting hundred of times a day with multiple usernames.
So the easiest solution is to moderate others who never report rather than get Himmy's knickers in a twist.
