Hard wiring smoke alarms from lighting circuit

I have a holiday let fitted with down lighters throughout - so no central ceiling pendants in any room.

We have smoke alarms in every room - the kitchen and hall hardwired and the others with 10 year lithium batteries but interlinked to the hard-wired versions via WiFi.

A fire risk assessment tells me that ALL alarms now need to be hard wired since a change in the law. I’ve had the spark out and he says it’s an enormous job and all the ceilings will need channels cutting in them to bring a live feed to each room.

Others suggest the live feed could come directly from the down lighters. Surely if this was the case, my spark would know!

Can anyone advise?

Impossible for random internet people to give a conclusive answer but

If there is a neutral at the switch then it’s almost certainly tricky

If there is no neutral at the switch then it may be possible to add them as there will be a permanent live somewhere above the ceiling

Even if you can get a feed from the lights you'll still need a 3 core from detector to detector.
