Braces

Hi, I have these 2 horizontal braces that I could do with removing. Presumably, when you buy the trusses, they are calculated to support the way they are built and these braces just look like the builders added them. They are just screwed in.

I am going to board that part of the attic, anyone see a reason why I can't remove them?

It looks like an old cistern support. A bit random if not. Are they the only pair?

Yes, it's a 12 year old.roof and I have been in from new. Looked to me that they were put in as a temp fix for some reason, 1 screw each side and just not removed after.
